Adult Protective Services Consultant

Role: Adult Protective Services Specialist
Compensation:
- Level I H26A - $21.61 per hour
- Level II H26B - $22.10 per hour
Travel Requirements: Extensive travel is required; a valid driver's license and car insurance are mandatory.
This position is crucial for ensuring the safety of vulnerable adults in Oklahoma. Responsibilities include receiving and investigating reports of abuse, neglect, and exploitation. You will assess individual capacities and provide necessary services, whether voluntary or involuntary. Additionally, you will coordinate service plans, prepare legal documentation, attend court proceedings, and provide testimony as required.
Qualifications
For Level I: A bachelor's degree in any discipline is required.
For Level II: Candidates may possess either a master's degree or a bachelor's degree with one year of relevant social work experience.
The complexity of assigned duties will vary based on experience level, and compensation will be determined accordingly.
Responsibilities for Level I:
- Engage in entry-level tasks while undergoing training to provide adult protective services.
- Assist higher-level specialists in investigations.
- Learn and implement self-protection strategies.
- Conduct follow-up activities for ongoing cases and develop service plans.
- Prepare legal documents for court hearings and attend as necessary, providing testimony.
- Participate in case staffing and additional training opportunities.
- Independently investigate routine referrals.
Responsibilities for Level II:
- Handle intake processes and complete investigations with appropriate documentation.
- Ensure the application of self-protection techniques.
- Conduct thorough assessments and determine suitable interventions.
- Make collateral contacts to gather comprehensive information on each adult's situation.
- Initiate and manage court proceedings for involuntary protective services and act as a temporary guardian as directed by the court.
- Involve the adult, family, and caregivers in creating a service plan tailored to the adult's needs, with follow-up visits as required.
- Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and engage with individuals from various backgrounds, including racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, and those with disabilities.
Note: This application is for a temporary contract position with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent state employee role.
