Position Title: Application Support Specialist

Location: Chicago, IL (Onsite 3 days/week)

Contract Duration: 6 Months (Potential for Extension)

Role Overview:

The Application Support Specialist will play a pivotal role in the Wealth Management sector, providing essential support to business operations, products, and clients. This position requires collaboration with Application Development teams to deliver business solutions using agile methodologies while effectively managing production challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive efforts to enhance production stability by proactively preventing issues.
  • Monitor and manage incidents, changes, and problems for designated applications.
  • Deliver consistent and high-quality updates to stakeholders regarding incident progress, including any risks or breaches of service level agreements.
  • Identify and implement strategies to improve application stability and availability, enhancing overall support service delivery.
  • Develop expertise in assigned application domains to become a Subject Matter Expert.
  • Analyze production issues through monitoring and log analysis to troubleshoot effectively.
  • Participate in regular meetings with Project and Development teams to prioritize and address production issues.
  • Assist in managing systems projects, including planning, status reporting, and implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with audit requirements, including change control and data security protocols.
  • Coordinate with onsite and offshore Managed Services providers to support applications and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with various teams to raise support tickets, analyze root causes, and facilitate efficient resolution of production issues.
  • Be available for on-call support, including after-hours and weekends, for high-priority production issues.
  • Work with vendors and support staff on support tickets, ensuring timely follow-up until resolution.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 5-6 years of experience in application development or support, utilizing modern technical frameworks and architectures.
  • Experience with multi-channel applications (web, mobile, API).
  • Familiarity with DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices is advantageous.
  • Understanding of the Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC) and related methodologies.
  • Experience in Agile/XP project environments.
  • Proficiency in technologies such as Java, J2EE, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Cloud Computing (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), RESTful interfaces, GIT, Gradle, Maven, NPM, Spring (Spring Batch and Spring Boot), Bootstrap, CSS3, HTML4, Oracle PL/SQL.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical issues in layman's terms.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and a collaborative approach to working within a global support team.
  • Experience engaging effectively with diverse groups, including IT management, technology staff, business partners, and clients.
