Role Overview:
This role necessitates a comprehensive understanding and active engagement in fulfilling the mission of Orange Coast Medical Center.

The Registration Representative operates under the guidance of the Supervisor/Manager and is accountable for executing all patient registrations for procedures, admissions, outpatient, and emergency visits.
The Representative is responsible for gathering and confirming demographic and insurance details to ensure accurate patient identification and billing for services rendered.
The Registration Representative must collect and record the patient's financial obligations in Epic and securely deposit payments in the designated safe or locked cash drawer.
Excellent customer service must be upheld with all patients, visitors, clinicians, and colleagues.Key Responsibilities:
Primary Responsibilities of the Role
List of essential job-specific functions.
- Effectively communicates in both written and verbal formats.
- Follows department protocols for utilizing two patient identifiers.
- Avoids HIPAA violations by selecting the correct MRN and interviews, registers, and pre-registers patients accurately and promptly in Epic.
- Ensures all registration documents are complete, signed, and scanned. Records notes in Epic as necessary.
- Delivers exceptional customer service adhering to Simply Better and AIDET principles.
- Collects and posts payments accurately and in a timely manner. Immediately deposits payments in the safe or cash drawer.
- Maintains a registration accuracy rate of 95% or higher.
- Monitors and manages work queues effectively.
- PBX: answers calls promptly, professionally, and directs calls appropriately. Understands and follows all emergency codes and alarm paging protocols.
- Demonstrates punctuality and reliability in attendance.
- Adheres to company policies, procedures, and directives. Supports departmental performance improvement initiatives. (Meetings, employee engagement surveys, education, and training activities).
- Interacts positively and constructively with others.
- Demonstrates the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively.
Qualifications
Experience
- 0-2 years of experience in hospital admitting, physician office, or equivalent healthcare preferred
General knowledge of insurance payors:
PPO, HMO, POS, EPO, Medicare, Medi-Cal, & CalOptima
- Bi-lingual (English/Spanish, or English/Vietnamese) preferred
- General computer skills required including electronic medical record and Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- High school graduate preferred
- Medical Terminology related course or certificate preferred
