Role Overview:

This position at Orange Coast Medical Center necessitates active engagement in fulfilling the organization's objectives.

The Patient Registration Specialist is tasked with managing patient registrations for various medical services, ensuring that accurate demographic and insurance details are collected and documented.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Complies with the two patient identifiers policy to ensure information accuracy.
  • Prevents HIPAA violations by entering data with precision.
  • Conducts interviews, pre-registers, and registers patients with accuracy.
  • Provides outstanding customer service to both patients and healthcare staff.
  • Accurately collects and processes patient payments.
  • Engages in performance enhancement initiatives.
  • Ensures precision in selecting insurance plans.
Emergency Room and Labor & Delivery Registration:
Adheres to EMTALA regulations and the Medical Screening Exam process.

Telephone Operations:
Handles calls in a professional manner and directs them appropriately, following established paging protocols.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare admissions.
  • Strong communication and customer service abilities.
  • Familiarity with insurance providers and medical terminology.
Educational Background:
  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Completion of a Medical Terminology course or certification is preferred.
