About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Access Representative to join our team at the University of California, Irvine. As a key member of our Patient Access department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of patients through our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduling, registration, patient pre-admission and admission, reception and discharge functions to support departmental efficiencies.
  • Obtain complete and accurate patient demographic information, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Employ proper and compliant patient liability collection techniques to ensure timely and accurate billing.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and productivity.
  • Interpret physician orders, medical terminology, and insurance cards to ensure accurate and efficient patient care.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 0-1 year of experience in a customer service role, preferably in a medical facility or related area.
  • Some college coursework is preferred.
  • Minimum typing skills of 35 wpm.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of PC/CRT/printer.
  • Knowledge of function and relationships within a hospital environment preferred.
  • Customer service skills and experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to receive and express detailed information through oral and written communications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures, and forms.
