Role Overview

This role requires a comprehensive understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of MemorialCare Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center. The Patient Care Assistant I (PCA I) Float Pool serves as an unlicensed caregiver under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, providing essential patient care including data collection, personal hygiene assistance, and support with daily living activities such as ambulation, toileting, and feeding. This position is crucial in facilitating departmental/unit flow activities that enhance patient care and maintain a safe, clean environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Effectively and competently perform assigned duties in a timely manner.
  • Communicate clearly and promptly with the Registered Nurse and other healthcare team members.
  • Collect and document pertinent patient information in the electronic medical record, alerting the Registered Nurse to any changes in patient condition.
  • Maintain patient privacy rights and confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Exhibit strong customer service skills by addressing patient and family expectations.
  • Demonstrate tact, sensitivity, and discretion in all interactions.
  • Integrate knowledge of job-specific competencies and equipment usage while maintaining educational requirements.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and directives.
  • Engage positively and constructively with colleagues.
  • Prioritize tasks effectively and manage multiple responsibilities.
