The Role

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Vice President of Scientific Affairs will be instrumental in steering our scientific research and development initiatives, shaping the strategic direction of our pipeline of innovative CNS therapies.

This position entails overseeing the company’s Neuroscience, Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Control (CMC), and Medicinal Chemistry functions.

Key Responsibilities

Scientific Leadership:

Provide scientific direction and strategic oversight to advance the discovery and preclinical development agenda, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.


Pipeline Development:
Lead the identification, assessment, and prioritization of novel therapeutic targets and candidate molecules for neurorestorative therapies.

Innovation:
Formulate innovative strategies based on scientific data and market analysis, driving differentiation and competitive edge in the sector.

Research Strategy:

Design and implement a comprehensive research strategy to tackle critical scientific inquiries and challenges related to our therapeutic focus areas.


Clinical Strategy:

Provide scientific insight to clinical development strategies, including the development of clinical biomarkers, ensuring seamless integration between preclinical research and clinical initiatives.


Quality Assurance:

Collaborate with quality assurance and regulatory affairs teams to uphold high standards of product quality, safety, and compliance with applicable regulations.


Partnerships and Collaborations:

Forge strategic alliances with academic institutions, research organizations, and industry partners to leverage external expertise and resources, fostering innovation and knowledge sharing.


Intellectual Property:
Identify and safeguard valuable intellectual property assets through patent applications, technology licensing agreements, and other intellectual property strategies.

Team Development:
Recruit, mentor, and cultivate a high-performing scientific team, promoting a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and innovation.

Communication and Collaboration:
Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and integration of scientific efforts across the organization.

To excel in this role, candidates should possess:
PhD or equivalent in biomedical sciences, neurology, molecular biology, or a related field; MD/PhD preferred.
Demonstrated success in scientific leadership within biotechnology, with substantial experience in drug discovery and development.
Expertise in neurorestorative therapies and CNS disorders, including ALS, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's, and Parkinson's.
Prior experience in a small to mid-sized biotech environment.
Strong understanding of preclinical and clinical development processes, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
Proven ability to build and lead high-performing scientific teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.

Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex scientific concepts and strategies to diverse audiences, including internal stakeholders, external partners, and investors.

Strategic thinker with a results-oriented approach, adept at advancing projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
