Role Overview

The Project Construction Manager oversees the field execution of construction projects, ensuring organization, planning, and scheduling to meet deadlines and budgetary constraints.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts site inspections to evaluate the quantity and quality of work performed by subcontractors, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Facilitates communication with clients, architects, engineers, inspectors, vendors, crews, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Reviews contracts, drawings, and specifications to develop on-site plans and procedures based on project timelines and staffing needs.
  • Creates and maintains project management documentation, including schedules, RFIs, tracking reports, and daily logs.
  • Identifies potential issues, work interferences, and scheduling conflicts, providing solutions as necessary.
  • Coordinates and supervises the activities of various subcontractors to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Implements quality control measures to ensure all work adheres to plans and specifications.
  • Conducts safety meetings and ensures compliance with safety protocols among all personnel on-site.
  • Participates in the recruitment and training of construction staff.
  • Works collaboratively with operations or project managers to align work with estimates, procedures, and resource availability.
  • Ensures all necessary permits and temporary facilities are secured prior to the commencement of construction.
  • May perform additional duties as directed to support organizational needs.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Oversees Specialty Superintendents and their respective scopes of work.
  • Provides mentorship and guidance to Assistant and Specialty Superintendents for their professional growth.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following:

  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction documents.
  • Working knowledge of general construction methods and practices.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to quickly learn new software for field management and reporting.

Supervisory Experience

Preferred candidates will have at least 1 year of field supervision experience.

Education

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience is required.

Experience

A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience is necessary, with a preference for candidates with experience in Light Industrial projects.

Physical Requirements

This position involves moderate physical demands, including the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and carry items such as documents and equipment. Candidates should possess good agility and dexterity, along with the ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively. The work environment may include exposure to machinery and chemicals, necessitating the use of protective gear.
