Job Overview

Prairie Band, LLC & Subsidiaries is seeking a qualified Project Manager to oversee a significant federal road construction initiative. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all on-site operations, ensuring project milestones are met, and serving as the primary point of contact for the Contracting Officer throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the entire construction workflow from project inception through to completion, including estimating, contract negotiation, and financial management.
  • Engage with clients and design teams to clarify project specifications, enhance client satisfaction, and promptly address any arising issues.
  • Obtain and manage all necessary permits and regulatory approvals for the project.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and proposals while clearly defining the project scope.
  • Utilize advanced scheduling software to establish and maintain project timelines.
  • Develop strategies for both self-performing and outsourcing various project components to meet objectives related to cost, schedule, and quality.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts and purchase orders to ensure all project requirements are fulfilled.
  • Identify potential issues proactively and facilitate effective solutions.
  • Conduct regular project meetings and document progress effectively.
  • Implement appropriate project control measures, including change order and submittal logs.
  • Monitor project expenditures to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints, documenting any changes in scope to protect stakeholder interests.
  • Prepare and submit monthly requisitions to the client while maintaining communication with vendors regarding financial matters.
  • Ensure compliance with all contractual obligations and legal standards governing the project.
  • Administer specific client programs such as Quality Control, Safety, and Environmental Stewardship.
  • Foster positive interactions with support teams, including Accounting and Human Resources.
  • Document substantial project milestones and manage the closeout process efficiently.
  • Participate in regular meetings with internal staff and external stakeholders, including subcontractors.
  • Provide mentorship and training to enhance the skills of project team members.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and scheduling software (Primavera and/or MS Project).
  • Experience with federal contracting is essential.
  • Strong understanding of architectural, engineering, and construction principles.
  • Ability to pass a background check is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management, or equivalent experience of 10 years.
  • A minimum of 10 years in construction supervision, with at least 3 years in a project management or superintendent role on similar projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in estimating and managing both self-performed and subcontracted work.
  • Possession of professional credentials such as Engineer in Training (EIT) or Associate Constructor (AC) is preferred.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Working knowledge of architectural, mechanical, and heavy civil work.
  • High proficiency in construction-related software, including spreadsheets and email.
  • Current safety certifications, including OSHA 30, First Aid, and CPR.
  • Current CQC certification from USACE is a plus.
  • General Contractor's License is advantageous.
