Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the electrical safety initiative ensuring adherence to OSHA and NFPA 70E standards.
  • Implement regulations for NRTL listed equipment.
  • Chair the electrical area classification committee, assessing and updating classifications based on equipment and process modifications.
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) or investigator for electrical-related incidents.
  • Utilize extensive electrical safety expertise to uphold safe working practices and compliance with industry standards.
  • Assess medical devices for safe operation in electrically classified environments.
  • Determine appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for qualified electrical personnel.
  • Maintain ownership of the TNO safe practices manual focused on electrical safety.
  • Serve as the trapped key interlock contact for TNO.
  • Participate as a contributing member of the Centralized Maintenance and Services Electrical Safety Team.
  • Engage as a member of the Combustible Dust Competency Team.
  • Lead the global Electrical Safety Center of Excellence team.
  • Oversee TNO and global electrical procedures and guidelines.
  • Act as a trapped key interlock resource for various Eastman locations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering is essential.
  • CESCP certification is preferred.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in managing an electrical safety program is required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of NFPA 70, 70E, 70B, 496, 497, 30, and 505, as well as OSHA and Subpart S.
  • Familiarity with the API RP 500 standard is beneficial.
  • Experience with arc flash calculations per IEEE 1584 and related mitigation strategies, shock hazards, and PPE testing and storage protocols.
  • Experience collaborating with Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories for field evaluations and limited product certifications.
  • In-depth understanding of hazardous electrically classified locations.
  • Experience in evaluating portable electronic devices for use in classified areas.
  • Knowledge of combustible dust hazards and mitigation techniques.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office; experience with Easypower or Etap is advantageous.
  • Strong organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to wear personal protective equipment and ability to climb ladders and stand for extended periods.
  • Experience with electrical generation and distribution systems up to 13.8kV, as well as 480V equipment maintenance.
