Position Overview:
The Breast Imaging Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional patient care and ensuring the highest standards of imaging procedures. This is achieved through a commitment to clinical excellence and an ongoing dedication to quality assurance and improvement in the services provided.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Communication: Maintain effective communication with various departments through intercom, phone, and electronic systems.
  • Patient Interaction: Engage with patients and their families, providing clear explanations regarding procedures, treatment plans, schedules, and associated costs.
  • Diagnostic Procedures: Conduct mammographic diagnostic procedures, ensuring accuracy and patient comfort.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Report any equipment issues to the Quality Control Technologist or Manager and perform quality checks on the bone density machine as needed.
  • Patient Care: Deliver high-quality mammography examinations, selecting appropriate technical factors based on patient diagnosis and age, while adhering to departmental protocols.
  • Documentation: Accurately document patient care and maintain equipment records, fulfilling all clerical duties related to diagnostic procedures.
  • Education: Contribute to the training of departmental staff on quality assurance practices and advancements in the field.
  • Assistance: Support radiologists and surgeons during mammotome biopsies and needle localization procedures.

Qualifications:
  • Preferred: One year of technical experience in mammography.
  • Education: Graduate from an AMA-approved Radiologic Technology program.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Registered by the A.R.R.T. in Radiologic Technology and Mammography. Valid state Radiographic license required.
  • Additional Requirements: ARRT(M) certification is necessary for ACR accreditation, and Mammography Registry (AART [M]) must be obtained within one year of employment.
