Job Summary

WMCHealth is seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team. As a Mammography Imaging Technologist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and imaging examinations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communication
    • Interdepartmental Communication: Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
    • Patient/Family/Significant Other Communication: Provide clear and concise information to patients and their families regarding their care and treatment.
  • Treatments and Procedures
    • Perform mammographic diagnosing procedures for patients, ensuring accuracy and quality.
  • Maintenance and Records
    • Report any equipment issues to the Quality Control Technologist and/or Manager, and ensure prompt resolution.
    • Perform quality control checks on the bone density machine.
  • Patient Care
    • Provide high-quality mammography examinations and technical procedures, adhering to departmental protocols.
    • Assess and maintain knowledge of patient conditions, responding to changes as needed.
  • Documentation
    • Accurately document patient care and equipment records.
    • Complete all clerical duties related to diagnostic procedures as directed.
  • Teaching and Education
    • Participate in the education of departmental personnel on quality assurance and professional advancements.
  • Specialized Procedures
    • Assist radiologists/surgeons in performing mammotome biopsies and/or needle localization of the breast.
Requirements
  • Experience
    • Preferred one year of technical experience, with a minimum of one year of mammography experience.
  • Education
    • Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology program.
  • Licenses/Certifications
    • Registered by the A.R.R.T. in Radiologic Technology and Mammography.
    • Valid New York State Radiographic license from the Department of Health.
  • Other
    • ARRT(M) certification is mandated by ACR accreditation. Mammography Registry (AART [M]) certification is required within one year of hire date.
