Role Overview:

The MRI Imaging Specialist functions under the supervision of a radiologist, utilizing advanced magnetic resonance imaging technology to produce diagnostic images. These professionals are graduates of accredited radiologic technology programs and must hold certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, along with licensure from the State of New York. The role involves serving a diverse patient population based on departmental services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts imaging examinations adhering to specific protocols to ensure high-quality results using appropriate techniques.
  • Exhibits proficiency in operating ancillary imaging equipment, including laser cameras, fluoroscopic devices, contrast injectors, and quality control tools.
  • Manages the safe handling and administration of contrast agents, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of patient information and procedural details, including medical history and imaging data.
  • Prepares patients for imaging procedures by providing clear instructions and support to alleviate anxiety.
  • Implements safety protocols to minimize risks to patients and staff, following established guidelines.
  • Conducts ongoing assessments of patients' conditions during procedures, ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met.
  • Assists in performing quality assurance and quality control procedures to ensure equipment functionality.
  • Takes responsibility for maintaining a clean and well-stocked imaging area, adhering to departmental standards.
  • Participates in departmental performance improvement initiatives.
  • Facilitates effective communication with colleagues and patients regarding imaging processes and equipment.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in relevant computer systems, including health information systems and imaging software.
  • Exhibits analytical skills and problem-solving abilities in the imaging environment.
  • Adheres to attendance policies and participates in required educational programs.
  • Maintains all necessary licenses and professional certifications as mandated.
Qualifications:

Education: Graduate from an accredited program in Radiologic Technology with specialized training in MRI.

Experience: Minimum of one year of relevant experience required.

Licensure: A.R.R.T. (R), NYS DOH.

Preferred: A.R.R.T. (MR) certification and NYS DOH IV Certification.

Working Conditions:
