Position Overview:

The Food Service Assistant Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the General Manager in overseeing the Food Nutrition and Dining Program. This position encompasses responsibilities across the school year and summer camp operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of systems and procedures for the procurement, storage, preparation, and serving of food products, alongside menu planning.
  • Ensure adherence to budgetary constraints as established by the General Manager and District Manager.
  • Support the training and motivation of team members to ensure high performance and satisfaction.
  • Act as the primary liaison for clients in the absence of the General Manager.
  • Maintain compliance with health regulations and prepare schools for inspections.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager on financial forecasting and budget management.
  • Oversee inventory management and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, and developing a talented team.
  • Monitor food costs, labor expenses, and overall operational efficiency while delivering exceptional service.

Additional Duties:

  • Ensure effective marketing and merchandising strategies are in place.
  • Participate in regular communications with clients and management regarding program activities and financial performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • ServSafe certification and knowledge of local health regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to adapt to new software.
  • Minimum of three years in Food Service Management, with experience in K-12 programs preferred.
  • Strong culinary skills and a passion for food.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and organizational abilities.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

The role requires frequent standing, walking, and lifting up to 40 pounds. The work environment is primarily in a cafeteria setting, with hands-on responsibilities during meal times.
