Job Role: We are seeking a Culinary Specialist to join our team at one of our Early Learning Centers. This role involves preparing ingredients for meal service, cooking meals according to established recipes, and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment in compliance with health and safety standards. The Culinary Specialist will collaborate with the Assistant Cook and Center Director to ensure smooth kitchen operations. This is a part-time position, requiring 30 hours of work per week, from Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Assistant Cook and Center Director to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
- Ensure the freshness and quality of all ingredients and final dishes.
- Adhere to recipes, including precise measuring, weighing, and mixing of ingredients.
- Prepare a variety of foods using methods such as baking, grilling, steaming, and boiling.
- Occasionally serve meals to children and staff.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including proper handling of utensils and equipment.
- Store and manage food and ingredients safely.
- Uphold food safety and sanitation standards at all times.
- Clean and sanitize work areas, tools, and equipment regularly.
- Execute opening and closing kitchen procedures effectively.
- Set up workstations with necessary ingredients and tools.
- Monitor inventory levels of kitchen supplies.
- Accommodate special dietary requests as needed.
- Operate kitchen appliances and equipment, including ovens, grills, and mixers.
Qualifications:
- Experience in culinary operations is essential.
- Knowledge of food safety and health regulations is required.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Attention to detail and thoroughness in all tasks.
Education and Experience:
- A High School Diploma or GED is required; higher education is preferred.
- A minimum of one year of experience in a culinary role is required.
- Culinary school training is advantageous.
Compensation:
- Hourly wage of $17.
