Job Summary

The Human Resource Assistant will provide support to the Fleet and Family Readiness division by completing a full range of human resource duties. This includes providing advice and assistance to potential applicants, employees, and managers/supervisors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Initial screening point for telephonic and in-person inquiries related to employment within Navy NAF Human Resources office
  • Recruitment support at assigned installations, including creating vacancy announcements/positions, reviewing applicants, and sending certificates of eligibility to management
  • Receiving selections and contacting and scheduling indoctrination appointments
  • Data input into the HRIS system and printing and filing documents as required
  • Providing guidance and answering questions on numerous policies and procedures as it applies to Non-Appropriated Fund employee management
  • Maintaining office files and records, including Official Personnel Folders, and purging/shredding files and documents as required
Requirements
  • A minimum of 1 year experience at a lower level is required
  • 2 or more years of experience in Human Resources is preferred
  • Knowledge of basic office filing procedures and ability to read and interpret basic human resource policies, process charts, operating manuals, and instructions
  • Ability to make decisions, resolve problems, and find and correct discrepancies based on the interpretation of HR policies and instructions
  • Proficiency with computers and ability to run basic reports, keep word documents, and/or spreadsheets to assist with tracking HR functions when necessary

Salary is dependent on experience and/or education. Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period.
