Company Overview

Our client is in search of a seasoned HR professional to lead their human resources operations. The Head of Human Resources Operations serves as the champion, specialist, and operational leader for all systems and processes that influence the workforce. This role is highly collaborative, requiring mentorship, leadership, and hands-on involvement while maintaining focus on the strategic objectives of the position.

This role collaborates closely with the executive leadership team, advisory councils, finance department, and HR leaders to meet their goals. They oversee processes that affect the employee lifecycle and ensure compliance with employment-related regulations. This position includes managing one HR generalist and an external consultancy.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership in HR Operations (20%)
  • Offer strategic and operational direction for the organization.
  • Engage actively in monthly management meetings.
  • Lead the planning and facilitation of organizational meetings and events.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage departmental budgets, ensuring expenditures align with projected revenues.
  • Conduct weekly one-on-one meetings with direct reports to focus on key outcomes.
  • Provide essential training for the HR team and hold them accountable to professional standards.
Organizational Development and Culture (40%)
  • Collaborate with organizational leaders to clarify the HR department's functions and services.
  • Reinforce the organizational culture through effective communication and initiatives.
  • Design and implement a Talent Development Strategy to support growth objectives.
  • Work with senior leadership to ensure managers have the necessary skills and knowledge.
  • Monitor employee engagement metrics and report on organizational performance.
  • Partner with communications to enhance internal messaging and employer branding.
  • Collaborate with leaders to create consistent recognition opportunities for exceptional work.
  • Engage in strategic planning by identifying key leaders and implementing succession planning.
General HR Functions (30%)
  • Lead the HR team in strategic and operational initiatives.
  • Regularly update the Employee Manual and Policy Guidelines.
  • Develop and implement employee retention strategies, including job satisfaction assessments.
  • Participate actively in daily HR operations, including:
    • Coaching and advising managers
    • Reviewing corrective action recommendations
    • Managing the employee termination process
    • Conducting exit interviews to understand turnover reasons
    • Reviewing compensation adjustments
    • Overseeing performance evaluation processes
  • Collaborate with Executives and Finance to design compensation and reward programs.
  • Develop strategies to meet diversity objectives.
  • Coordinate annual HR audits to ensure compliance and enhance competitive advantage.
  • Work with various departments to improve employee engagement and organizational performance.
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation to protect against claims and promote consistent treatment of staff.
  • Conduct annual reviews of employee benefits programs and make recommendations for improvements.
Additional Responsibilities (10%)
  • Deliver training within areas of expertise.
  • Actively participate in advisory councils and committees.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or a related field.
  • SHRM-SCP certification.
  • 7+ years of experience in HR roles within growing organizations.
  • 3+ years of experience leading HR functions, reporting to executive leadership.
  • Ability to navigate organizational dynamics for effective decision-making.
  • Proven ability to build HR departments while executing tactical initiatives.
  • Adaptability and openness to feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Diplomatic decision-making skills with a balance of openness to new ideas.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing principles.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong project management capabilities.
