Position: Cybersecurity Systems Engineer (Hybrid)

This role operates in a hybrid environment, with an initial period requiring full-time presence in the office.

About Our Team
Under general oversight, this position is accountable for the management and support of security system software and hardware across various levels, including Enterprise, Mid-Range, and Desktop. The role demands a solid understanding of security principles, theories, and concepts at both network and application layers, alongside familiarity with access control technologies such as firewalls, content scanners, usage monitors, encryption, VPN, and wireless solutions. The engineer will provide technical assistance in the planning, coordination, programming, and execution of updates, enhancements, or modifications to security system software and hardware, as well as the suite of products and productivity tools that facilitate testing and production environments associated with relevant operating systems. This role ensures the reliable performance of security-related hardware and software through continuous performance monitoring and tuning, as well as capacity planning. Responsibilities also include system maintenance and high-level support for the operating system and all associated security software and hardware components. The engineer will plan and execute software upgrades, ensuring adherence to change management protocols and methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct product research and evaluations
  • Design and implement software solutions

  • Oversee the installation, configuration, testing, and documentation of software
  • Manage software upgrades and maintenance tasks
  • Administer security protocols
  • Provide technical support, including troubleshooting and problem resolution
  • Perform network analysis, administration, and configuration
  • Ensure backup and recovery of operating systems and related software products
  • Implement disaster recovery strategies
  • Conduct performance analysis and tuning; engage in capacity planning

Technical Knowledge and Skills:

Security Principles & Technology: Knowledge of primary security products, integration of these products into a comprehensive security program, access control systems, and security models.

Maintenance & Monitoring: Familiarity with primary security products for performance monitoring, installation, configuration, and customizations.

Related Skills: Understanding of operating systems, networking, databases, browser technologies, programming, and IT general control processes.

Technical Support: Proficient in addressing day-to-day issues, problem-solving, and change management.

Project Management: Knowledgeable in general project management principles.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience and technical training.

Experience:

  • A minimum of three to five years of relevant experience.

Working Conditions:

  • Availability for emergency restoration assignments as needed.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
