Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all mechanical and structural design tasks necessary for the modification and modernization of electric overhead cranes.
- Analyze order documentation and customer specifications to define project scope and planning.
- Conduct thorough research in company archives for legacy equipment records and interpret mechanical and structural drawings.
- Execute engineering tasks following established protocols.
- Develop equipment layouts and perform essential calculations to validate designs.
- Generate detailed drawings for sub-assemblies, assemblies, and installations to meet project requirements.
- Draft comprehensive work instructions to facilitate field installations.
- Manage project planning, scheduling, and execution, ensuring adherence to budget and timelines.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with overhead electric cranes or similar industrial machinery is preferred.
- A Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain one is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of machine design and structural engineering practices is essential.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as CMAA and ASME B30 is beneficial.
- Knowledge of welding and machining processes is required.
Additional Requirements:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are crucial for this role.
- Proficiency in SAP, AutoCAD, Solidworks, and Microsoft Office is expected.
- Ability to effectively liaise with sales teams, customers, application engineers, and project management.
- Willingness to conduct site visits, which may involve working at heights up to 100 feet.
- Travel requirements estimated at 5% for customer meetings, equipment commissioning, and product inspections.
