Position Overview:

The role of the Accountant for Grants and Restricted Funds involves managing the financial aspects of grants and restricted funds for the institution and its foundations, under the guidance of the Director of Accounting.

Key Responsibilities:

Grant Accounting:

  • Support grant managers in the application and budgeting processes.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions related to grants.
  • Interpret financial requirements associated with grants effectively.
  • Assist in the timely drawdown and expenditure of grant funds.
  • Prepare and review periodic financial reports prior to submission.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during audits related to grants.
  • Maintain organized records of grant applications and agreements.
  • Conduct data analysis and present findings related to grant finances.
  • Oversee the management of restricted and agency accounts.
  • Prepare various financial reports as required by the accounting department.
  • Ensure compliance with record retention policies.

Foundation Accounting:

  • Process and reconcile all funds received by the foundation.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and respond to additional reporting requests.
  • Maintain an accounting system for investment activities.

Additional Duties:

  • Participate in the annual budgeting process as needed.
  • Assist with external audits and other related tasks.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting is required.
  • Certification as a Public Accountant is preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in non-profit or educational accounting is necessary.
  • Proficiency in integrated finance software and computer applications is essential.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications are required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills are essential.
