Position Title: HIV Prevention Outreach and Education Specialist

Department: Prevention and Intervention

Supervisor: CPN, HIV Prevention Coordinator

Employment Type: Full Time

Compensation: $37,000-$43,000 annually

Community Health Action of Staten Island (CHASI) is committed to enhancing the health of individuals in New York through a variety of programs and services aimed at supporting at-risk populations.

ROLE SUMMARY:

  • Engage with high-risk individuals through targeted outreach initiatives focused on HIV prevention.
  • Educate the community on effective prevention methods.
  • Facilitate access to support services, including PrEP and PEP.
  • Work in partnership with other service providers to ensure comprehensive care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement outreach strategies with peer support.
  • Assess individuals for potential risk behaviors.
  • Assist in program enrollment processes.
  • Provide counseling regarding prevention techniques.
  • Ensure clients attend scheduled appointments.
  • Gather and maintain accurate data on outreach activities.
  • Conduct informative presentations and workshops.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Uphold the values and mission of CHASI.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Preferred certification as a recovery coach.
  • Ability to connect with diverse community groups.
  • Understanding of HIV, STIs, and PrEP/PEP protocols.
  • Experience in harm reduction strategies.
  • Background in community outreach.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Professional representation of CHASI's mission.
  • Bilingual candidates (English/Spanish) are preferred.
