Position Overview
The role of the Manager of Environmental Health, Safety, and Sustainability is essential for overseeing and ensuring compliance with all relevant EHS&S regulations and standards. This position requires a seasoned professional with 8-10 years of management experience in an EHS&S capacity within a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the development and implementation of policies aimed at enhancing personnel safety and environmental protection.
• Collaborate with teams across multiple locations to foster a proactive safety culture that integrates EHS&S into daily operations.
• Establish and manage an EHS&S inspection program utilizing advanced management systems. Support corporate assessments and ensure the resolution of identified issues.
• Provide direct reporting to senior management and participate actively in leadership discussions regarding EHS&S initiatives.
• Advise on compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, ensuring all employees are well-informed and trained.
• Ensure timely submission of necessary reports and permits to regulatory bodies.
• Collaborate with procurement and operational teams to identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high standards of EHS&S service.
• Serve as the primary contact during EHS&S inspections by regulatory agencies.
• Engage in construction project planning to address EHS&S considerations effectively.
• Develop budgets and timelines for EHS&S initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
• Oversee the selection and management of third-party service providers for EHS&S needs.
• Mentor and develop EHS&S staff to enhance their skills and effectiveness.
• Work closely with engineering teams to mitigate potential EHS&S issues through design modifications.
• Uphold the company's commitment to equal opportunity and affirmative action.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support the EHS&S objectives.
Qualifications
• Education: A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as life sciences or environmental engineering.
• Experience: A minimum of 10 years in a regulated environment with a focus on EHS&S.
• Certifications: Preferred certifications include CSP, CIH, or other relevant EHS credentials.
• Skills: Strong knowledge of GLPs, GMPs, and regulatory requirements. Excellent communication skills, proficiency in MS Office, and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
