Job Summary

The Senior Director, Capital Projects will lead the development and execution of the company's capital portfolio, ensuring safe, efficient, and timely delivery of major projects. This role will be responsible for managing internal and external resources, providing tools and ways of working for capital project management, and collaborating with the Engineering Leadership team to deliver capital projects across the supply network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a methodology for the delivery of capital projects, including the Project Management Framework.
  • Agree annual objectives and deliverables with the SVP Engineering and EHS, targeting safe, compliant, and improving delivery of the capital portfolio.
  • Direct the timely and accurate management information necessary for stakeholders to take strategic decisions on capital investment.
  • Ensure the availability of the right capability, internal and external, to assemble, define, and manage the capital portfolio.
  • Ensure statutory, PMF, ABAC, and EHS compliance programs are in place for all projects and that all projects are delivered to meet the requirements of all local, national, and company regulations.
  • Continued health and development of Project Management processes able to deliver projects in line with external best practice.
  • Development of all necessary reporting processes and capabilities able to provide management information and assurance that ensures compliance to governance and reporting regulations.
  • Ensure the development of agile commercial strategies that allow access and obtain value with third-party suppliers required to execute the portfolio.
  • Development of the capability, processes, tools, and suppliers able to ensure that capital projects are delivered safely in line with EHS targets.
  • As a member of the Engineering and EHS team, advocate the value of engineering and support the continuing health of engineering as a function within the company.

Basic Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering - physical engineering discipline associated with capital and construction delivery.
  • Experience managing a minimum of £300mm Capital Portfolio over a network of multiple sites, across an entire supply chain.
  • Extensive experience in the initiation to delivery of high-tech life science projects in multiple geographies and leadership of a capital projects organization.
  • Experience spent in the capital project lifecycle from Design to Operation.
  • Experience in roles such as project manager across different geographies, cultures, and working practices during career.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Operational engineering experience.
  • Management of a central (corporate) capital delivery organization.
  • Experience reporting Annual Capital plans and/or major capital projects to CFO/CEO.
  • Experience of leading teams of >50 FTEs + 1000's of Contract Workers in global and diverse cultures.
  • Professional engineering certification, such as C. Eng, PE, or Eur.Ing.
