Position Overview

The Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability (EHS&S) expert is responsible for overseeing all EHS&S initiatives at the designated facilities, ensuring adherence to compliance standards and promoting a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and assist departments in the rollout of policies and procedures aimed at enhancing employee safety and environmental protection.
  • Establish and manage the EHS&S inspection framework utilizing the CRL EHS&S management system. Collaborate with the corporate EHS&S assessment team to evaluate site compliance and address any identified issues.
  • Engage as a member of the Site Leadership Team(s) and conduct regular evaluations with senior management to ensure EHS&S objectives are met.
  • Advise management and staff on compliance matters pertaining to Federal, State, and Local regulations.
  • Ensure that comprehensive training programs are developed and assigned to relevant personnel regarding environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with Site Leadership and Procurement to identify cost-saving strategies that support business operations while maintaining high-quality EHS&S services.
  • Provide expert guidance and formal responses during EHS&S inspections conducted by regulatory authorities.
  • Coordinate with Facilities on construction initiatives to ensure EHS&S considerations are integrated.
  • Develop and manage budgets and timelines for EHS&S initiatives, utilizing platform tools effectively.
  • Track and promote the advancement of EHS&S projects while adhering to budgetary constraints and timelines.
  • Work alongside Corporate Engineering and workplace personnel to pinpoint and mitigate potential EHS&S challenges through design modifications or other necessary actions.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as life sciences, environmental engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in a regulated environment.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered as a suitable alternative to the specified qualifications.
  • Certification: Preferred certifications include CSP, CIH, or other relevant EHS credentials.
