The Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability (EHS&S) Program Manager serves as the primary expert overseeing all EHS&S initiatives at Charles River Laboratories. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations across our facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and assist departments in the execution of policies aimed at enhancing employee safety and environmental protection.
  • Establish and manage the EHS&S inspection framework utilizing the Enablon management system, collaborating with corporate assessment teams to address findings.
  • Engage with the Site Leadership Teams to conduct regular reviews with senior management.
  • Advise management and staff on compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations.
  • Ensure that comprehensive training programs are developed and assigned to employees regarding environmental and safety compliance.
  • Collaborate with Site Leadership and Procurement to create cost-effective strategies for EHS&S materials and services, aligning with Operational Excellence objectives.
  • Lead and formally respond to inspections conducted by regulatory agencies such as OSHA and EPA.
  • Coordinate with Facilities on construction projects to address EHS&S considerations.
  • Develop budgets and timelines for EHS&S initiatives, including platform tools like Enablon and HSI EHS Training.
  • Track and promote the advancement of EHS&S projects while adhering to budgets and schedules.
  • Work with Corporate Engineering and staff to identify and mitigate potential EHS&S issues through design modifications.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a life science, environmental engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a regulated environment.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered as a satisfactory substitute for the specified qualifications.
  • Certifications: Preferred certifications include CSP, CIH, or other relevant EHS credentials.
