Position Overview

The Senior Operations Manager is tasked with overseeing the daily functions of Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain operations. This role involves leading these teams, assessing performance against operational benchmarks, and ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures while addressing escalated operational challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage the activities of Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, and Technical Services, providing mentorship and support to departmental leaders.
  • Manufacturing: Evaluate and enhance operational performance, offering recommendations for improvements.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and internal policies.
  • Supply Chain: Oversee the entire supply chain process from vendor selection through to product delivery.
  • Technical Services: Ensure timely documentation and resolution of technical issues.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise staff while assessing their performance; promote effective communication and collaboration among team members; conduct regular meetings with direct reports to align with business objectives.
  • Champion safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop, implement, and communicate essential production metrics.
  • Propose and execute manufacturing policies and programs that enhance the organization’s competitive edge and operational profitability.
  • Achieve or surpass financial targets; analyze expenditures and resource allocation; prepare and present necessary data.
  • Collaborate actively with other departments and cross-functional teams, embodying and promoting the company’s core values.
  • Oversee building security and facilities maintenance.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Required Knowledge & Skills

  • Proven ability to lead multiple functions and mentor department managers.
  • In-depth understanding of Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain standards and processes.
  • Skilled in identifying complex issues, evaluating alternatives, and implementing effective solutions.
  • Proficient in project management methodologies and tools.
  • Strong grasp of business and management principles related to strategic planning, resource allocation, and operational coordination.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA regulations and best practices for safety in manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools and strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficient in industry-standard software (MS Suite, ERP systems, inventory management tools, etc.).

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years in Manufacturing and Supply Chain roles.
  • At least 5 years of experience supervising teams in Manufacturing and Supply Chain with 20 or more employees.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing and leading safety and quality initiatives.
  • Experience managing budgetary, capital planning, and P&L responsibilities within a manufacturing context.
  • Background in project management or technical leadership, integrating various functions to drive improvements.
  • Experience utilizing industry software for communication, reporting, and business management (MS Suite, ERP systems, inventory management tools, etc.).

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • Lean/Six Sigma certification is preferred.
