Position Overview:

Lanessa Extended Care is seeking an experienced MDS Coordinator to enhance our dedicated care team. This role is pivotal in evaluating and documenting the needs of our residents, crafting personalized care plans, and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.

Work Schedule:

Shifts available are either 8 AM to 4 PM or 9 AM to 5 PM. Compensation is competitive, with LPNs earning $38/hour and RNs earning $45/hour.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the MDS process effectively.
  • Oversee training related to Activities of Daily Living (ADL) for staff and facility.
  • Timely issuance and delivery of denial notices.
  • Complete and submit all CMS-approved item sets (MDS).
  • Ensure compliance with current CMS regulatory guidelines as outlined in the RAI Manual.
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect residents' health information in accordance with facility policies.
  • Document Medicare meeting minutes as per program agreements.
  • Issue Medicare denial letters in compliance with CMS regulations.
  • Ensure proper management of residents' Medicare and insurance benefits.
  • Maintain systems to support adequate documentation for billed services.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold a Nursing Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current, unencumbered RN or LPN license required.
  • Previous experience in MDS is essential.

Essential Skills:

  • Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully with residents, families, and staff.
  • Capable of coordinating MDS systems and assessments efficiently.
  • Knowledgeable in nursing practices, medical procedures, and long-term care regulations.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Possess patience, tact, and a positive attitude when dealing with residents.
  • Willingness to explore and implement new nursing methods and principles.
  • Effective communication skills, especially in emergency situations.
  • Strong assessment skills to uphold nursing practice standards.
