We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Representative to join our team at Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems. As a Patient Access Representative, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patients, families, and medical staff, ensuring a positive experience for all.
Key Responsibilities- Provide quality customer service to patients, families, and medical staff
- Establish and maintain an environmental control plan
- Coordinate materials management for the department
- Assist in monitoring clinic activities and provide supervision of clerical activities
- Handle all business functions in an assigned area, including reception, scheduling, and registering patients for appointments and/or procedures
- Secure patient information, ensure registration data is correct and accurate, and validate insurance eligibility
- Collect co-pay (if applicable) and assist with financial counseling and financial clearance, as necessary
- High school graduate or GED
- Previous experience with computers, Microsoft Office software, and navigating the Internet
- Previous experience keyboarding with the ability to type 40 words per minute
- Preferred: Work experience with medical insurance, HMO, managed care, GE/IDX, Cerner order entry, appointment scheduling, and previous work experience in a healthcare setting and knowledge of medical terminology
This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple priorities, and interact with patients and families in a courteous and respectful manner. The ideal candidate will be able to adapt to frequent changes and work independently with minimal supervision.
