Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Access Representative to join our team at Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patients, families, and medical staff, ensuring a positive and efficient experience for all.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide quality customer service to patients, families, and medical staff
  • Register patients for appointments and procedures, ensuring accurate and timely registration
  • Validate insurance eligibility and collect co-payments as necessary
  • Assist with financial counseling and clearance as needed
  • Coordinate materials management and environmental control plans for the department
  • Supervise clerical activities and monitor clinic operations
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • Previous experience with computers, Microsoft Office software, and medical insurance systems
  • Ability to type 40 words per minute and perform daily activities with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications
  • Work experience in a healthcare setting and knowledge of medical terminology
  • Experience with electronic medical billing/order entry/registration systems and appointment scheduling
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent and intense customer interactions. The incumbent must be able to adapt to frequent change and perform daily activities with minimal supervision.
