Patient Access Coordinator

The Patient Access Representative provides exceptional customer service to patients, families, and staff, ensuring a positive experience at Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems. This role is responsible for registering patients, scheduling appointments, and handling business functions in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Registers patients for appointments and procedures
Schedules appointments and coordinates patient flow
Handles business functions, including reception and registration
Secures patient information and ensures accurate registration data
Validates insurance eligibility and collects co-payments
Requirements
High school graduate or equivalent
Previous experience with computers and Microsoft Office software
Ability to type 40 words per minute
Strong communication and customer service skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with medical insurance and electronic medical billing systems
Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare procedures
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field
Work Environment
This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. The Patient Access Representative must be able to perform daily activities with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment and provide exceptional customer service to patients and staff.
