Position Overview:

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems is in search of a Senior Human Resources Specialist. This role involves planning, executing, and coordinating a diverse range of professional-level human resources functions, including recruitment, compensation, benefits administration, training, employee relations, and unemployment insurance. The selected candidate will typically focus on two or more designated areas and provide technical support for HRIS systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stay informed about legal requirements and government reporting regulations that impact human resources operations, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Offer technical support and training on HRIS systems, including report generation, interface development, and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct research in specific functional areas, analyze data, and prepare management recommendations for assigned projects.
  • Assist in the development and execution of recruitment initiatives, including interviewing, screening, and extending job offers to qualified candidates.
  • Review job classification requests and analyze competitive data for compensation and benefits surveys.
  • Support the development of benefit modifications and prepare informational materials for employees.
  • Interpret and apply human resources policies while providing guidance to employees on specialized areas.
  • Advise management on effective resolutions for employee-related issues.
  • Analyze competitive trends and internal data to inform HR strategies.
  • Maintain records of employee benefits participation, personnel transactions, and statistics for compliance reporting.
  • Contribute to the performance review process to ensure thoroughness and compliance.
  • Participate in the development and administration of specialized benefits programs, ensuring compliance and fairness.
  • Prepare documentation for employee separations and conduct exit interviews to gather insights on turnover.
  • Develop actionable recommendations to achieve HR objectives.
  • Conduct feasibility studies to assess potential HR program implementations.
  • Provide additional human resources services as required.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, along with five to seven years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A Bachelor's Degree is preferred. Proficiency in computer skills, data management, scheduling, and teamwork is essential.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on collaboration.
  • Proactive in identifying opportunities for safety and quality improvements, as well as cost-saving measures.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting commitments.
  • Demonstrate the highest standards of integrity, ethics, and safety.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision and exercise sound judgment.
  • Willingness to travel, including potential international travel, is required.

Certifications:

Professional Human Resources Certification or pursuit of PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP certification is preferred.
