The F-35 Software Integration Specialist will be responsible for providing software engineering support to the Weapons Integration Product Team (WIPT) for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. This role involves planning, coordinating, and assessing all software-related tasks associated with the integration and certification of the F-35A, F-35B, and F-35C weapon systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Plan and oversee F-35 aircraft and weapon integration software activities to ensure compliance with established requirements and best practices in software engineering.
  2. Collaborate with a team of F-35 Weapon Integrators to evaluate and provide technical guidance, ensuring that software development adheres to standardized processes and meets operational needs.
  3. Maintain oversight of software sustainment for all assigned tasks related to F-35 Weapon Integration, coordinating integration activities with the Weapon Program Offices.
  4. Monitor weapon software updates, track progress, and recommend necessary testing for updated certifications.
  5. Review relevant aircraft and weapon software documentation, providing engineering assessments and recommendations for certification processes.
  6. Participate in various meetings, including Joint Interface Control Working Group (JICWG) sessions, Program Management Reviews (PMR), and Technical Interchange Meetings (TIM), serving as the government interface manager for assigned software integration tasks.
  7. Assess Developmental Test (DT) flight clearances concerning software functionality and provide recommendations to the government.
  8. Engage in lab, ground, and flight testing, reviewing test plans and results, and ensuring alignment with data requirements.
  9. Prepare monthly updates for F-35 Air Vehicle/Mission Systems briefings to leadership.

Qualifications:

U.S. Citizenship is required due to the sensitive nature of the work. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain security clearances throughout their employment.

A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a related STEM field is required, along with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a Weapon or Aircraft Program Management Office.

Applicants should have at least 5 years of experience in integrating airborne weapons systems, including expertise in systems/software engineering, testing, and program management.

Knowledge of the DoD acquisition lifecycle process and its relevance to assigned weapon systems is essential.

Familiarity with fighter aircraft weapons, practices, and policies is preferred.

Strong analytical skills to gather and assess weapons program information, along with the ability to communicate effectively with senior military and government leadership, are crucial.

Excellent briefing, interpersonal, and diplomatic skills are required.

Travel Requirements:

Travel may be required 1-2 times per month, with each trip lasting 3-5 days. Foreign travel is unlikely but possible.

Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and TEAMS is necessary.
