Position Overview:

The F-35 Software Integration Specialist is responsible for providing software engineering expertise to the Weapons Integration Product Team (WIPT) for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. This role involves planning, coordinating, and assessing all software-related tasks associated with the integration and certification of F-35 weapon systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee and coordinate F-35 aircraft and weapon integration software activities to ensure adherence to requirements and best practices.
  2. Collaborate with a team of F-35 Weapon Integrators to evaluate and provide technical guidance, ensuring compliance with standardized processes and that weapon functionality is effectively integrated into aircraft software.
  3. Maintain oversight of software sustainment for all assigned tasks related to F-35 Weapon Integration, synchronizing activities with the Weapon Program Offices.
  4. Track weapon software updates and provide testing recommendations necessary for certification of new software versions.
  5. Review relevant aircraft and weapon software documentation, offering engineering assessments and certification recommendations.
  6. Participate in various meetings, including Joint Interface Control Working Group (JICWG) and Program Management Reviews (PMR), serving as the government interface manager for software integration as needed.
  7. Assess Developmental Test (DT) flight clearances and provide recommendations regarding their approval.
  8. Engage in lab, ground, and flight testing, reviewing test plans and results, and ensuring alignment with technical requirements.
  9. Prepare and present monthly updates for F-35 Air Vehicle / Mission Systems briefings to leadership.

Qualifications:

U.S. Citizenship is required due to the sensitive nature of the role. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain necessary security clearances.

A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a related STEM field is required, along with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a Weapon or Aircraft Program Management Office.

Experience integrating airborne weapons systems for at least 5 years, with a focus on systems/software engineering, testing, and program management is essential.

Familiarity with the DoD acquisition lifecycle process and its relevance to assigned weapon systems is preferred.

Knowledge of fighter aircraft weapons, practices, and policies is advantageous.

Strong analytical skills to gather and evaluate weapons program information, with the ability to communicate findings effectively to senior military and government personnel.

Excellent briefing and interpersonal skills are necessary.

Travel Requirements:

Travel may be required 1-2 times per month, typically lasting 3-5 days, with foreign travel being unlikely but possible.

Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and TEAMS) is expected.
