Position Overview

The Financial Planning Analyst III serves as a key expert in financial planning and analysis (FP&A). This role requires independent judgment to guide financial planning initiatives and offer strategic recommendations aimed at achieving cost-saving objectives.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Act as a recognized authority in FP&A.
  • Independently drive procedural enhancements and technological improvements within FP&A to boost efficiency, enhance financial clarity, and ensure accountability in budgeting and forecasting.
  • Provide insightful recommendations and conduct ad-hoc analyses for senior management to support cost-saving initiatives.
  • Oversee monthly performance metrics, including market profitability, budget variances, and forecasting reports.
  • Develop financial models and reporting frameworks to inform decision-making, including multi-year projections, competitive assessments, and scenario analyses.
  • Collaborate with various FP&A teams and corporate divisions to analyze and present findings on corporate projects of diverse scopes.
  • Assist in setting and communicating budget objectives; monitor progress against budget targets and compile final results for executive review.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in finance, accounting, investment banking, or a related field.
  • A Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in net present value (NPV) calculations as a decision-making tool.
  • Familiarity with cash flow and balance sheet metrics, as well as activity-based costing methodologies.
  • Understanding of fundamental reporting principles.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (with large datasets) and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication abilities, capable of conveying complex information to various organizational levels, including executive leadership.
  • A proactive self-starter with a strong inclination towards action.
  • Detail-oriented with a clear understanding of overarching objectives.
  • A positive, open-minded, and inquisitive attitude, thriving in a dynamic environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree.
  • Experience with VBA/SQL, predictive analytics, dashboard reporting (e.g., Tableau), enterprise planning software (e.g., Cognos TM1), and general ledger systems (e.g., PeopleSoft).
  • Knowledge of the airline or transportation industry and its competitive landscape.
  • Aptitude for learning complex systems and processes, recommending necessary updates, and facilitating changes.
