Washington, Washington, D.C., United States Upstream USA Full time
Job Overview

Organizational Overview

Upstream USA is a rapidly expanding national nonprofit organization dedicated to providing equitable, patient-centered contraceptive care integrated into the healthcare system as a fundamental aspect of health services. Our vision is to create a future where all patients receive comprehensive screenings for their contraceptive needs and are offered unbiased, trauma-informed counseling delivered by skilled providers and support staff, adhering to best medical practices and evidence-based guidelines. We believe in empowering patients to access their preferred contraceptive methods at their convenience.

To achieve this, we collaborate with healthcare organizations, offering complimentary training, education, and technical support. Feedback from patients at Upstream-trained facilities consistently indicates that they feel valued and respected, successfully accessing their chosen contraceptive methods.

In response to the increasing demand for our services, Upstream has initiated a national expansion plan aimed at transforming contraceptive care in over 700 healthcare organizations across the United States, targeting 5 million patients of reproductive age by 2030. Our partnerships with more than 130 healthcare providers in nearly 40% of the country have already begun to integrate essential contraceptive services across various healthcare settings, including primary care.

Upstream primarily relies on philanthropic contributions and does not accept funding from pharmaceutical companies. Our budget has surged from $1.7 million six years ago to approximately $60 million in the upcoming year. Our initiatives have attracted attention from prominent publications, highlighting our impact in the field.

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with effective communication capabilities.
  • Customer-service oriented, fostering positive relationships with colleagues.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to responsibilities and professional development.
  • Strong work ethic and collaborative mindset.
  • A sense of humor and approachability.
  • Commitment to Upstream's mission of providing equitable, patient-centered contraceptive care as a fundamental healthcare service.

Additional Expectations
