Position Overview

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced professional to serve as the Division Chief of Pediatric Endocrinology at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD).

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Division of Endocrinology, which is part of the Department of Pediatrics at UCSD and Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego (RCHSD).

The Division Chief will oversee the management of the Division, including direct oversight of faculty and staff, and will have direct accountability for the Division's clinical service and operational performance.

The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of leadership, research excellence, and a passion for delivering high-quality care. They will also be committed to faculty development, education, and the advancement of research in vital areas, including but not limited to diabetes, metabolism, metabolomics, regenerative medicine, and various medical fields.

The Division Chief will support the mission of delivering high-quality care, teaching, and scholarly activities while promoting an environment that supports diversity, equity, and inclusivity among faculty, students, and staff.

The appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's background and experience. Series will include 50% Ladder Rank / 50% In-Residence with secured extramural funding or 100% Ladder Rank.

As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities, and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Responsibilities

The Division Chief will be responsible for:

* Leading the Division of Endocrinology and overseeing the management of the Division

* Directly overseeing faculty and staff, and having direct accountability for the Division's clinical service and operational performance

* Supporting the mission of delivering high-quality care, teaching, and scholarly activities while promoting an environment that supports diversity, equity, and inclusivity among faculty, students, and staff

* Collaborating with other departments and units within UCSD and RCHSD to advance the mission of the Division and the University

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

* An MD or equivalent, or an MD/PhD in health-related fields

* A California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California

* Board certification or board eligibility in Pediatric Endocrinology

* Demonstrable leadership experience and substantial experience in leading a Pediatric division

* A track record of research excellence manifested by grants and publications

* A well-established history of successfully obtaining extramural funding and conducting independent research
