Job Summary

We are seeking an exceptional leader to serve as the Chief of the Division of Pediatric Dentistry at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the division's education, research, and service missions, and will play a key role in advancing the field of pediatric dentistry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for the Division in its education, research, and service missions.
  • Develop and implement a Division strategy, including the associated annual budget and operating plans.
  • Lead the development of a dentistry research agenda, including consistent performance targets and metrics.
  • Develop and implement scientific communication strategies to inform and link scientific faculty within the Division and with the health system.
  • Recruit key faculty and succession planning necessary to achieve the goals of the Division Strategy.
  • Evaluate performance of faculty, trainees, and staff in line with UCSF guidelines for departments/divisions.
  • Lead the day-to-day operations of an active research program.
  • Coordinate interactions between researchers and graduate training programs in collaborative institutions.
  • Establish collaborations for local, regional, and international research.
Requirements
  • Candidates must hold a DDS or DMD degree or equivalent and be qualified to be appointed at the associate professor or professor level at UCSF in the academic series most appropriate to their experience and qualifications.
  • The candidate must be board-certified in pediatric dentistry.
  • Must be licensed or able to practice dentistry in the state of California.
  • Administrative and leadership experience in an academic setting, such as in a program (research or clinical), section, division, department, or research.
  • Demonstrated commitment to enhancing equity and inclusion, through research, teaching and mentoring, or clinical activities to advance the health of underserved populations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active research and grant portfolio desired.
