The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry seeks an exceptional leader to serve as the Chief of the Division of Pediatric Dentistry. This is a key leadership position that requires a strong vision, strategic thinking, and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Strategic Direction
- Provide strategic direction and leadership for the Division in its education, research, and service missions.
- Develop and implement a Division strategy, including the associated annual budget and operating plans.
- Research and Education
- Develop and implement a research agenda for the Division, including consistent performance targets and metrics.
- Lead the development of educational programs for the Division, including curriculum design and implementation.
- Faculty and Staff Management
- Develop and implement plans for recruiting key faculty and succession planning necessary to achieve the goals of the Division Strategy.
- Evaluate the performance of faculty, trainees, and staff in line with UCSF guidelines for departments/divisions.
- Collaboration and External Relations
- Establish collaborations for local, regional, and international research; facilitate the growth of new and existing research programs.
- Develop plans for philanthropic support for research programs, including promotion of extramurally funded research.
- Other Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operations of an active research program.
- Coordinate interactions between researchers and graduate training programs in collaborative institutions.
- Education and Qualifications
- Candidates must hold a DDS or DMD degree or equivalent and be qualified to be appointed at the associate professor or professor level at UCSF in the academic series most appropriate to their experience and qualifications.
- The candidate must be board-certified in pediatric dentistry.
- Must be licensed or able to practice dentistry in the state of California.
- Experience and Skills
- Administrative and leadership experience in an academic setting, such as in a program (research or clinical), section, division, department, or research.
- Demonstrated commitment to enhancing equity and inclusion, through research, teaching and mentoring, or clinical activities to advance the health of underserved populations.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to effectively operate in a complex environment.
- Active research and grant portfolio desired.
