About the DivisionThe Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at UC San Diego is a world-renowned center for research, education, and clinical care in endocrinology and metabolism. Our Division consists of over 30 full-time active faculty, 12 academics, 29 postdoctoral fellows, and 45 staff members. We have a strong commitment to academic excellence, diversity, equity, and inclusivity, and we are interested in candidates who share these values.
Responsibilities- Provide leadership and vision for the Division, ensuring its continued excellence in research, education, and clinical care.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to advance the Division's research, education, and clinical care programs.
- Lead and manage a team of faculty, staff, and students, providing guidance, support, and resources to ensure their success.
- Collaborate with other departments and institutions to advance the Division's research, education, and clinical care programs.
- Secure funding for research and educational programs, and manage budgets and resources effectively.
Candidates must have a MD or equivalent, MD/PhD, or PhD with an emphasis relevant to endocrinology and metabolism. They must have 5+ years of a track record of leading a clinical, translational, and/or basic research program, and an independent extramurally-funded research program (NIH R01 or similar). Candidates with national recognition in research and a vision for how to sustain and grow all facets of the Division's missions are preferred.
What We OfferUC San Diego offers a competitive salary and benefits package, as well as opportunities for professional growth and development. The successful candidate will be appointed at the Associate or Full Professor level, with a series that includes 50% Ladder Rank / 50% In-Residence with secured extramural funding or 100% Ladder Rank. As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities, and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited.
