The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry seeks an exceptional leader to serve as the Chief of the Division of Pediatric Dentistry. This is a key leadership position that requires a strong vision, strategic thinking, and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for the Division, aligning with the Academy's mission and goals.
- Provide strategic direction and leadership for the Division's education, research, and service missions.
- Lead the development of a research agenda, including performance targets and metrics, to measure and improve achievement standards.
- Develop and implement scientific communication strategies to inform and engage faculty and staff within the Division and with the health system.
- Recruit and develop key faculty and staff, and oversee personnel actions for the Division.
- Evaluate performance of faculty, trainees, and staff in line with Academy guidelines.
- Lead the day-to-day operations of an active research program.
- Establish collaborations for local, regional, and international research, and facilitate the growth of new and existing research programs.
- Develop plans for philanthropic support for research programs, including promotion of extramurally funded research and generation of gifts and endowments.
- Hold a DDS or DMD degree or equivalent, and be qualified to be appointed at the associate professor or professor level at the Academy.
- Be board-certified in pediatric dentistry.
- Be licensed or able to practice dentistry in the state of California.
- Have administrative and leadership experience in an academic setting, such as in a program, section, division, department, or research.
- Demonstrate a commitment to enhancing equity and inclusion, through research, teaching, and mentoring, or clinical activities to advance the health of underserved populations.
- Have a distinguished record of research and clinical excellence in dentistry.
- Have experience and expertise in dealing with a wide range of programs and specialties.
- Have expertise in identifying, enunciating, and addressing major issues and challenges in pediatric dental care, education, and research.
- Have strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills to effectively operate in a complex environment.
- Be able to define a vision and execute it, and have a reputation as a leader in academic dentistry.
- Active research and grant portfolio.
The minimum base salary range for this position is $145,500-$309,800. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
