This crucial position will oversee employee relations and performance management for a diverse group of around 600 property management personnel, including support staff. Core Responsibilities:

  • Act as the main resource for property management teams regarding HR-related concerns, offering expert advice and escalating issues when necessary.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to managers and staff on various employee matters, pinpoint issues, assess solutions, and suggest actions.
  • Facilitate the resolution of employee conflicts, conduct thorough investigations, and recommend resolutions.
  • Manage sensitive and confidential issues with the utmost discretion.
  • Proactively address performance challenges and implement corrective measures as needed.
  • Prepare and oversee documentation for unionized staff in accordance with progressive discipline protocols, including warnings and separation letters.
  • Assist managers in navigating performance management processes and improvement plans for non-union staff.
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations by remaining informed about legislation, enforcing compliance, and advising management on necessary actions.
  • Support the annual performance review and succession planning initiatives for employees.
  • Monitor employee leave and accommodation requests, managing relevant documentation.
  • Guarantee the accuracy and standardization of employee data, collaborating with the Corporate HRIS team as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of HR experience, particularly in employee relations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working with teams across multiple locations.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of state-specific regulations concerning payroll, leave, wages, and hours, particularly in Illinois.
