Job Description

The Senior HR Generalist position plays a vital role in supporting the Human Resources department at Alpha Baking Company. This role is responsible for regional human resources duties, ensuring a positive and productive work environment for all employees.

  • Resolves employee relations issues through effective, thorough, and objective investigations, working closely with management to determine appropriate resolutions and outcomes.
  • Collaborates with management to successfully resolve matters involving policy interpretation, discipline, performance assessment, and terminations.
  • Administers and interprets labor agreements and grievance procedures, ensuring compliance with company policies and employment laws.
  • Assists with the administration of the company's benefits programs, including delivery and communication of benefit plans via New Hire Onboarding and Open Enrollment.
  • Oversees the administration of leave of absence programs, ensuring a smooth and efficient process for employees.
  • Handles employee exit interviews, gathering valuable feedback to improve the employee experience.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of new programs, plans, policies, and procedures, enhancing the overall HR function.
  • Coordinates recruitment efforts for exempt and non-exempt positions with the HR Coordinator and hiring managers.
  • Develops and recommends new approaches, programs, and policies that positively impact selection and retention of high-performance teams.
  • Builds strong partnerships with all levels of the organization, maintaining positive rapport with employees and management.
  • Assists with the development of a database of job descriptions and role profiles, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Supports the execution of annual performance reviews, ensuring a fair and effective evaluation process.
  • Oversees and develops the Human Resources Coordinator, providing guidance and support to ensure success in their role.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the Human Resources department.

This position requires a deep understanding of human resources functions throughout the employee life cycle, as well as a familiarity with labor laws and regulations.

The Senior HR Generalist position is an advocate for the company and its policies, as well as the staff they serve. This role requires an even temperament, unbiased approach, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or SHRM/HRCI Certification is preferred.
  • Five+ years of generalist experience with emphasis on Employee Relations is required.
  • Must have full-cycle recruitment experience.
  • Experience working in a union environment is a plus.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of UKG is a plus.
  • Must be extremely flexible with job duties and able to adapt to a fast-paced environment committed to providing excellent customer service to all employees.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of employees and management.
  • Strong communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Proficiency at an intermediate level in Windows Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must have knowledge of principles and practices of HR administration, policies, procedures, and employment law.
