Job Summary

The University of Southern Maine's New England Environmental Finance Center (NEEFC) is seeking a Climate Funding Manager to join their team. This is a full-time, soft-money (grant) funded position with a starting annual salary up to $75,000, commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build community capacity to navigate funding opportunities, develop strong proposals, and effectively manage funding for climate action.
  • Work directly with New England municipalities, Tribes, community-based organizations, and utilities, with an emphasis on removing barriers and improving accessibility to funding for communities with environmental justice concerns.
  • Collaborate with the NEEFC Director and Deputy Director, as well as external partners, to achieve project goals.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, non-profit organizations, and private sector entities.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to communities on climate finance and funding opportunities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., economics/finance, climate/environmental policy, business administration, public administration, nonprofit management, urban planning) with 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience securing competitively awarded external funding.
  • Experience/training in environmental and/or municipal finance.
  • Proficiency in additional language(s) beyond English.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to provide own transportation (fully insured vehicle), provide proof of a valid driver's license, and compliance with Maine law regarding vehicle insurance.
