Position Summary
As a Coffee Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing our guests' experiences by providing extensive knowledge of our offerings and a steadfast commitment to excellence, ensuring guest satisfaction. The Coffee Specialist serves hotel patrons by delivering prompt and efficient beverage and food services, with a comprehensive understanding of all available items.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Craft and serve a variety of espresso beverages, coffee, and freshly pressed juices from the menu, ensuring compliance with established guidelines and Longfellow Standards.
- Exhibit a thorough knowledge of all beverage and food options and ingredients to effectively address inquiries and accommodate custom requests.
- Build rapport with guests through outstanding service.
- Proactively anticipate guest needs, assess satisfaction levels, provide recommendations, and promptly address any concerns or requests.
- Assist in the organization and cleanliness of work areas, espresso machines, and service counters.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
- Take on responsibilities in Food & Beverage areas during staff shortages or peak business periods.
- Adhere to Longfellow and SLH workplace guidelines and codes of conduct.
- Collaborate professionally with colleagues and supervisors.
Ideal candidates should possess:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in Coffee/Barista roles or similar positions is preferred.
- Ability to obtain any necessary food handling or alcohol service certifications as required by local or state regulations.
- Experience in a hotel or resort environment is advantageous.
- Familiarity with the Portland area and its surroundings is a plus, but not mandatory.
- Capability to stand for the duration of the shift and communicate effectively with guests.
- A positive attitude and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and meticulous work habits.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a team-oriented approach.
- Proficiency in handling cash, room charges, and credit card transactions accurately.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to manage challenging situations and guests.
