Civil Engineering Project Specialist

Join our team at River to Tap, Inc. (R2T), a dedicated small business enterprise specializing in water and wastewater engineering and consulting services across the eastern United States. Our mission is to deliver a broad spectrum of civil and environmental engineering solutions, environmental planning, permitting, and project management to various governmental and municipal entities.

We are seeking a Civil Engineering Project Specialist to enhance our engineering team as we expand our operations in the DC Metro Area. In this role, you will oversee the execution of engineering design tasks related to pipeline and stormwater management, contributing to all stages of water, wastewater, and stormwater projects, including planning, design, and oversight during construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of engineering solutions for various components related to water, wastewater, and stormwater facilities.
  • Prepare and evaluate design documentation, including engineering drawings, technical specifications, and comprehensive reports.
  • Assess shop drawings and address inquiries from contractors throughout the construction phase.
  • Investigate and formulate effective technical solutions for unit processes and piping systems associated with water and wastewater facilities.
  • Conduct field inspections and document findings, creating reports and repair specifications as necessary.
  • Review the work of team members to ensure quality and completeness, providing mentorship and guidance as needed.
  • Manage multiple projects by setting objectives and monitoring timelines and budgets for successful project delivery.
  • Coordinate project resources to produce detailed design documents, technical reports, and planning materials.
  • Maintain accurate project records and perform additional assigned tasks.

Qualifications:

  • 4-8 years of experience in engineering and consulting, particularly in water, wastewater, or stormwater engineering, with increasing responsibilities in task management.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration in relevant jurisdictions or the ability to obtain it within six months.
  • Proficiency in CAD software is essential; experience with Civil 3D and Revit is preferred.
  • Experience in the design and planning of municipal facilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while exercising sound judgment and initiative.
  • Familiarity with site design functions, including layout, grading, utility design, stormwater management, and regulatory approvals.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey ideas clearly.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

This position involves a hybrid work schedule, requiring in-office presence in the DC Metro Area. R2T offers a competitive compensation package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, disability coverage, life insurance, professional development opportunities, generous paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with company matching.

Compensation will be determined based on the qualifications of the selected candidate. All candidates offered a position must successfully complete a background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
