This role demands exceptional interdisciplinary technical and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with engineers and scientists across various remediation initiatives. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities are essential for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engineering of environmental water collection, conveyance, and treatment systems.
- Design and permitting of stormwater management and erosion control systems.
- Provide engineering support for industrial and municipal remediation projects.
- Lead field oversight for pre-design investigations.
- Experience in remedial technology design, particularly in water and wastewater management.
- In-depth knowledge of Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) across project phases:
- Conduct investigations, including environmental media sampling and water quality assessments.
- Develop treatment and remedial designs, including feasibility evaluations and pilot studies.
- Oversee remedial implementation, including construction support and permitting.
- Evaluate treatment performance and manage routine maintenance activities.
- Perform modeling and analysis of remediation effectiveness and subsurface conditions.
- Serve as a senior technical resource and advisor within the team.
- Provide specialized technical insights for project studies and designs.
- Analyze data and prepare engineering reports, plans, calculations, and specifications in accordance with industry standards.
- Develop procedures to enhance the quality and cost-effectiveness of project deliverables.
- Participate in interdisciplinary reviews of project outputs.
- Generate construction cost estimates and assess technical efforts for projects.
- Ensure quality control of design calculations and drawings.
- Prepare technical specifications and contribute to project budgeting and scheduling.
- Interface with clients and regulatory bodies through comprehensive reporting.
- Manage environmental fieldwork, including oversight of remediation systems and subcontractors.
- Apply construction quality assurance and control practices.
- Assist project managers with budgeting, scheduling, and scope development.
- Demonstrate flexibility in handling diverse projects and a commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Support business development through proposal writing and client engagement.
- Willingness to travel for project-related activities.
- Adhere to AECOM's Quality Management System requirements for project deliverables.
- Cultivate trusting relationships with clients and colleagues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a closely related field with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
- Direct experience with PFAS is required.
- Candidates must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test and background check.
- U.S. citizenship is required for this role.
- FE or EIT certification is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degrees (Master's or PhD) in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
- Over 10 years of experience in environmental consulting and remediation design.
- Completion of 40-Hour HAZWOPER Training.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Commitment to health and safety practices.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
