Sports Medicine Athletic Trainer

As an integral part of a vibrant sports medicine initiative, athletic trainers are essential in assisting student athletes by emphasizing injury prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation. They also offer advice to student athletes regarding rehabilitation exercises and equipment, while collaborating with coaches, medical personnel, and physicians to ensure the athletes' health and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform pre-participation physical assessments for student athletes
  • Provide first aid and assess injuries during practices and competitions
  • Guide and instruct athletes on rehabilitation exercises
  • Organize medical coverage for team events
  • Maintain medical documentation and aid in formulating treatment strategies
  • Keep abreast of advancements in sports medicine and relevant policies

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Athletic Training or a related discipline
  • BOC certification and NPI number
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and medical record management
  • Flexibility to travel and work varied hours

Preferred Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider
  • Fire Life Safety Training
