Position Overview

The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) boasts a distinguished legacy in collegiate athletics. Our student-athletes excel not only in their respective sports but also in academics and community engagement. As the Deputy Athletics Director/Chief Revenue Officer, you will spearhead our initiatives aimed at enhancing revenue streams while committing to the development of future champions. This position offers a unique opportunity to leverage your strategic acumen, extensive knowledge of the sports sector, and proven leadership capabilities to contribute to UCLA's renowned athletics program.

In this capacity, you will oversee and enhance revenue-generating functions, focusing on diverse streams such as ticket sales, sponsorships, multimedia rights, licensing, and merchandising. Your responsibilities will include supervising key administrative areas, acting as a sport administrator, and leading departmental projects, particularly in revenue generation, marketing, sales, and resource allocation. You will manage several senior staff members and coaches, ensuring the establishment of fair and consistent policies for all personnel while overseeing various administrative divisions within the department.

As a member of the executive team, you will collaborate closely with the Director of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics (DIA). This leadership role requires strategic planning, market assessment, and the innovation of revenue streams to bolster the financial sustainability and growth of the department. As the Sport Administrator for designated sports, you will ensure that the assigned UCLA programs maintain a competitive national ranking.

Compensation and Benefits

Actual salary offers will take into account various factors, including budget constraints, prior experience, skills, knowledge, and other relevant business considerations. Qualifications

  1. A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience within a major research university or institution of similar complexity, preferably in a large university or comparable program. (Preferred)
  2. A thorough understanding of the collegiate sports landscape and revenue mechanisms, demonstrated by a successful track record in revenue growth and management. (Required)
  3. Familiarity with the principles and practices of revenue generation, sales, marketing, or related fields within the sports industry. (Required)
  4. Proficiency in financial analysis and budget oversight. (Required)
  5. Exceptional negotiation and relationship-building abilities. (Required)
  6. Demonstrated knowledge of intercollegiate athletics, including relevant issues and terminology. (Required)
  7. Strong verbal and written communication skills to articulate the university's mission and values, as well as the strategic objectives of the University and DIA. (Required)
  8. Excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with External Affairs, DIA, campus leadership, colleagues, and key stakeholders. (Required)
  9. Outstanding communication and presentation capabilities. (Required)
  10. Experience in developing and leading collaborative team efforts to achieve goals. (Required)
  11. Strong management and supervisory skills, including staff recruitment, retention, professional development, and disciplinary actions. (Required)
  12. Strategic planning, analytical, and organizational skills to devise and implement innovative solutions while adapting to evolving market conditions. (Required)
  13. Knowledge of and commitment to adhere to department, University, Conference, and NCAA regulations. (Required)
Education and Certifications

  1. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience/training. (Required)
Employment Conditions

  1. Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background investigation.
  2. Live Scan Background Check: A Live Scan background check must be completed prior to employment commencement.
