The Help Group is seeking a dedicated Physical Education Instructor and Sports Coach who is passionate about making a significant impact in the lives of students with diverse needs. As a leading nonprofit organization, we are committed to empowering individuals affected by various challenges, including autism spectrum disorder and emotional difficulties.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver engaging instruction in a variety of physical activities and sports, such as flag football, basketball, soccer, track and field, beach volleyball, softball, and pickleball.
- Organize and oversee all athletic team practices and competitions.
- Select and tailor curriculum content to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Establish measurable goals and objectives for student progress.
- Create dynamic lesson plans that foster a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Participate in case conferences to review and enhance individual programs.
Prepare or obtain instructional materials and adapt activities to ensure student success. Design flexible grouping strategies (individual, small group, whole class) and maintain clear schedules. Balance routine activities with innovative approaches to keep the learning environment stimulating.
- Maintain a detailed weekly plan book outlining lesson specifics, grouping strategies, activities, and staff assignments.
- Utilize individualized teaching techniques and positive reinforcement to maximize student achievement.
- Manage student behavior using a constructive, non-aversive approach.
- Collaborate with colleagues to address specific challenges and ensure athletes meet eligibility criteria for sports.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong interest in Physical Education and experience working with students with autism, learning disabilities, and emotional challenges. Key qualifications include:
- Ability to create and implement engaging lesson plans.
- Knowledge and enthusiasm for promoting physical fitness and healthy lifestyles.
- Preferred coaching experience.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Special Education credential or eligibility for an Intern Credential, Provisional Internship Permit, or Short-Term Staff Permit.
