Job Overview

The Line Cook plays a vital role in delivering exceptional culinary experiences to our guests at Yardbird Dallas. This position is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation in a dynamic kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities

Essential functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs in managing food and labor costs, including purchasing, receiving, and inventory management of kitchen supplies.
  • Train and mentor current and future kitchen staff in their respective roles, ensuring high performance and adherence to standards.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of production techniques and exhibit meticulous attention to detail in plating and flavor profiles of menu items.
  • Ensure that all food served meets exceptional quality standards and address any discrepancies promptly.
  • Regularly replenish kitchen supplies and food items necessary for service.
  • Update the daily production schedule to optimize service efficiency.
  • Conduct routine inventory checks to maintain appropriate stock levels.
  • Collaborate with management and service staff to address guest needs and operational requirements.
  • Uphold a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  • Ensure that kitchen equipment is properly cleaned, maintained, and stored, with the ability to identify and utilize all equipment effectively.
  • Label and date all products accurately, ensuring adherence to first-in, first-out inventory practices.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment in accordance with health standards.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Degree in Culinary Arts or equivalent experience.
  • Food Safety/Manager Certification.
  • Strong customer service orientation with expertise in food quality, presentation, and preparation.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety guidelines, operating instructions, and procedural manuals.
  • Proficient in writing routine reports and correspondence.
  • Effective communication skills for engaging with customers and team members.
  • Mathematical skills for calculations involving measurements and inventory.
  • Problem-solving abilities to navigate various operational challenges.
  • Capability to interpret diverse instructions presented in various formats.
Working Conditions
  • Regular exposure to heat from cooking equipment.
  • Typically loud noise levels in the kitchen environment.
Physical Requirements
